Calgary non-profit workers apply for unionization

Workers at a non-profit in Calgary have applied for union certification through the Teamsters union.

Earlier this week, the Alberta Labour Relations Board released their most recent New Applications Report. In the report is a new application for union certifications in Alberta.

The application was submitted by Local 987 of the Teamsters union on 15 June 2022. They’re applying for union certification for a group of 10 workers who are working at Reset Society of Calgary.

Reset Calgary is a non-profit organization providing comprehensive individualized support and safe housing to women and girls age 16 and over who are trying to exit sexual exploitation and sex trafficking.

The ALRB has scheduled a hearing date on this application for 29 June 2022.

Speaking of Teamsters, the ALRB has set 3 hearing dates for Amazon fulfillment centre workers in Alberta trying to unionize with Teamsters Local 362. Their hearings are scheduled for 27, 28, and 29 June 2022.

Since the application notice is replaced each Monday, I’ve attached a copy below for anyone who’s interested in more information.
