About me
I’ve been writing poetry for nearly 30 years. I specialize in rhyming poetry that uses vibrant imagery and symbolism.
People are always surprised when I tell them I’ve been writing and editing for over 30 years. True, a significant chunk of those 3 decades saw me editing and writing off and on. But, I’ve been getting paid for my writing for over a decade, and I’ve been running my copywriting business in Lethbridge for over 5 years.
That writing includes poetry. I, as with a lot of writers, started writing poetry as a teenager, much of it filled with angst.
Today, my poems are often still filled with angst, but my topics have diversified.
I’ve also moved away from the free verse of my teen years and have embraced rhyming verse as my preferred poetry medium. I find the restrictions of the rhyming and metre force me to be imaginative and creative in the imagery and symbolism I use.
What do you charge?
I charge $40 for an 8-line poem. If you need poetry longer than that, we discuss options.
What’s your process?
I’ll meet with you (or if you’re not in Lethbridge, we can discuss it over email or some chat application) to get some background information and maybe discuss main themes. I’ll take all that and turn it into a first draft, which I will send to you for approval.
How long does it take?
If you’re getting an 8-line poem, I can have it to you in about a week.
