S5 E6 – Sam Yamamoto

In the sixth episode of season 5 of the Alberta Worker Podcast, independent labour journalist Kim Siever interviews Sam Yamamoto, a high school band teacher in Lethbridge.

In this episode, Sam growing up in Utah as the son of immigrant parents, his first jobs as a young person, working as a piano technician at BYU, moving to Canada to be a band teacher, experiencing microaggressions as a person of colour, and being part of the 2025 Alberta teachers’ strike.
