Chipping Silence

  1. Cradled by my fingers, this awkward chunk of stone,
  2. Sharp and jagged edges hiding shapes unknown.
  3. Inside there’s potential, whispering as urge.
  4. Time and slow precision cause vision to emerge.
  5. Careful chipping silence reveals what’s ’neath the face.
  6. Water polished finish marks the resting place.
  7. Standing now before me—none before had stood;
  8. Pleased with this new story, I declare it good.
