The Alberta Labour Relations Board publishes a list of all the certificates they’ve issued for unionized workplaces in the province.
They update it every month, with the latest update being 2 February 2026.
I thought I would report on 2 certificates that the ALRB issued in January 2026.
Fort McKay Logistics LP
The first certificate issued by the ALRB last month was for all workers employed by Fort McKay Logistics LP in their warehouse and mailroom departments, except those in office or clerical positions.
Fort McKay Logistics is part of the Fort McKay Group of Companies and owned by the Fort McKay First Nation.
The ALRB approved this certification on 16 January 2026.
These workers had actually already been unionized with this employer since 2001 but when it was called Fort McKay Transportation Ltd., so this new certification is to reflect the change in the employer’s name.
2371281 Investment LP
Six days later, on the 22nd, the ALRB issued a certificate for workers employed by the United Steel, Paper And Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial And Service Workers International Union AFL-CIO·CLC.
Local D3-02 of the Staff Representatives’ Union filed the application on 18 November 2025 on behalf of workers employed by the USW except those in clerical positions.
The next step for all the workers at both workplaces will be to set up bargaining committees to begin negotiating their first collective agreements.
