Alberta officially has $100 billion in debt
The UCP have borrowed nearly $16 billion a year since being in power, 38% more than the NDP borrowed.
Yep. You read that right. Negative $212 million.
The province has paid out more than $1.8 billion in P3 debt to private contractors over the last 10 years. And that amount is about to go up.
While the deficit is projected at 57% lower now than February’s original projection, it’s not because the UCP are deficit-slaying masters.
That accounts for about 2/3 of net gaming and lottery revenue. The rest is allocated to over 2 dozen programmes and initiatives.
The feds are increasing annual funding by $10 million over last year, plus they’re including $243 million in one-time top-up funding.
The UCP government will receive $290 million over 4 years, yet announced plans to spend $45 million on childcare subsidies.
They expect $8 million more in revenue from tuition and fees this year than they received 2 years ago. Plus, they’ve already laid off over 100 faculty and staff.
