University of Lethbridge workers have been waiting for a new contract for nearly a year and a half. Last time, it took almost 2.5 years to get one.
If they are successful, it will affect nearly 2 dozen workers.
If they’re successful, it would affect about 6 workers.
They will receive wage increases, as well as improvements to shift premiums, dental care, and eye care.
Some of their coworkers are already unionized.
The new collective agreement brings improvements to wages and health benefits, as well as a new boot allowance.
But they lost nearly 31,000 jobs in July and August, so this is not as large of an increase as it first appears. And most of them were part-time.
Workers will receive improvements to wages, shift premiums, sick leave, and overtime.
This is despite these same workers having a real wage cut of 22% in their last 2 contracts.
