Their first case is still before the Alberta Labour Relations Board.
Over their last two contracts, these workers received 5 years of wage freezes, leading to a cut of nearly 19% to real wages. The new contract offers a 12% increase.
It includes wage increases in each year of the 2-year agreement.
If adopted, this would be the lowest combined wage increase in any year since these workers unionized. No wonder these workers called it insulting.
We also went from having the fourth highest unemployment to the sixth highest.
This is the largest raise they have received in years, but they still trail behind the cost of living.
This is up from the 2024 and 2023 numbers.
It includes changes to wages, premiums, and vacations.
