Earlier this week, the Alberta Labour Relations Board released their most recent New Applications Report. In the report is a new application for union certification in Alberta.
The application was filed on 18 May 2023 by Local 1722 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
This union is applying on behalf of all workers, except office and clerical, employed with Daikin Comfort Technologies, at their Calgary location.
The Texas-based HVAC company also has a Canadian headquarters in Ontario, as well as offices in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer.
According to the application, if the union certification is approved, it would apply to roughly 7 workers.
The ALRB has scheduled a hearing for this application for 2 June 2023.
