Edmonton education workers vote to strike
Over 4,000 education support workers with the Edmonton Public School Board have gone over 4 years without a new contract.
There’s been a net increase in teachers hired under the UCP, but that increase hasn’t kept up with population growth.
These workers will get a wage increases, but it’s only 2.75% and in the final year of the contract. And it comes in two phases.
That’s not until after several years of wage freezes first though. And their contracts are about to expire.
