They’ve been waiting since last year for a new contract, and the Edmonton Public Library seems to keep finding ways to drag their feet.
They haven’t been unionized since their last collective agreement expired in 2018.
Their last contract expired at the end of last June.
Several of the closures were because of wildfires. The rest were because AHS doesn’t have enough nurses and doctors.
They’re also asking for more sick days, more vacation time, higher boot allowance, and longer bereavement leave.
Their last contract expired a year ago.
Workers were set to go on strike as of midnight tonight if a deal hadn’t be negotiated.
The certificates include nurses, care workers, electricians, municipal workers, and carpenters.
There were also changes to unscheduled overtime and site access testing.
