Calgary delivery drivers file for unionization

The 32 workers are employed by a Texas-based shipping company.

Last week, the Alberta Labour Relations Board released their most recent New Applications Report. In the report is a new application for union certification in Alberta.

The application was filed on 10 May 2023 by Local 401 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Canada Union.

This union is applying on behalf of all owner operators employed with TForce Logistics Canada Inc., at their Calgary location.

The Texas-based shipping company also has a Canadian headquarters in Ontario, as well as offices in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer.

According to the application, if the union certification is approved, it would apply to roughly 32 workers.

The ALRB hasn’t scheduled a hearing for this application yet.

Since the ALRB doesn’t archive their new application reports, here’s a copy of the most recent one.
