Elevator constructors win 14.6% raise

The new 4-year contract will affect over 600 workers throughout the province.

In the June 2023 Bargaining Update released earlier this month, Alberta’s jobs, economy, and northern development ministry indicated that a new collective agreement for elevator constructors had been reached.

Settled on 16 June 2023, the new agreement is between the Construction Labour Relations Alberta and Locals 122 and 130 of the International Union of Elevator Constructors.

The new 4-year agreement replaces the previous agreement, which had expired this past April, and it will expire in April 2027.

Workers covered by this new agreement can expect to see 4 wage increases during the life of the contract.

1st year3.8%
2nd year3.7%
3rd year3.6%
4th year3.5%

That’s a combined total increase of 14.7%.

No other changes were available by the time this article went to press.

The new contracts will affect over 600 elevator construction workers throughout the province.
