And that’s on the heels of 7 years in a row of wage freezes.
It includes wage increases, a night shift premium, and mandatory meeting premiums for workers on their day off.
They also received increases to rest time, overtime pay, and RRSP benefits.
There’s a persistent myth in Alberta that minimum wage workers are mostly teenagers. Except, this just isn’t true.
Since the start of the year, the province has lost over 35,000 full-time jobs.
They will get increases to wages, shift premiums, vacation time, flexible spending account, and sick leave accumulation.
Increases start at 12.55%. Keep in mind that these teachers had wages frozen between 2015 and 2022.
The contract includes pay increases, vacation allotments, various leaves, and free uniforms.
This falls short of making up for 5 wage freezes over the last decade.
