Earlier this week, the Alberta Labour Relations Board released their most recent New Applications Report. In the report are 3 new applications for union certifications in Alberta.
The first application was submitted by Ironworkers Local 725 on 30 May 2022. They’re applying for union certification for a group of 5 general construction structural ironworkers who are working at the Edmonton-based Canada Steel Workers Ltd.
The ALRB has scheduled a hearing date on this application for 20 June 2022.
‘The second application is from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. On 2 June 2022, they applied for certification on behalf of 27 labour relations officers currently employed with Local 401 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Canada Union, which is based out of Calgary.
Their hearing is scheduled for this morning.
Finally, United Steelworkers applied on 3 June 2022 to certify 33 workers at the Millrise Centre (Calgary) location of Starbucks Canada. You can read more about that application here.
Their hearing is also set for this morning.
Speaking of Starbucks Canada, the ALRB has set a hearing date for Lethbridge workers trying to also unionize with USW. Their hearing is scheduled for 20 June 2022.
Since the application notice is replaced each Monday, I’ve attached a copy below for anyone who’s interested in more information.
